Lost Highway (2) 30.09.07

We went to Kuwait this week-end. A nice drive through Saudi but it made us tired. Since women can't drive in Saudi Arabia (better ?) I had to drive the whole way, being around 900km round trip. It is basically just a long straight highway, with few cars, from Bahrain to Kuwait. No trouble at the border. The Hummer could barelly reach 150km/h but maybe that's better since trucks are crossing the highway, not mentionning the poor bad drivers and the camels.

We got lost when driving back yesterday night. Despite the long straight highway there are lots of deviations due to road construction, or optimization, work. I wrongly took a right turn and found ourselves driving East.... direction to Riyadh and Mecca. We could exit the highway after having asked for our way at the petrol station, an exit that was basically a sand road to the desert. Thanks to a Bahraini car we were following, who apprently took the wrong way as well, we could find a fly over the highway and we were back on track.

Kuwait was nice. So quiet during this Ramadan time. We stayed at the Kempinski, there were maybe 15 people there. Kids enjoy their first jet ski and we had nice time on the beach and by the pool.
